Taught kora by his grandfather, Sissoko comes from a family line of Malian musicians dating back centuries.
Sissoko has modernized the kora sound collaborating with contemporay music greats such as Harry Belafonte, Lauryn Hill and Paul Simon
Sissoko gives bac,k teaching the kora and Mande traditions in local schools and children's programs, such as Musical Explorer's at Carnegie Hall.
